Cathie got her very first Great Dane, "Panther", in 1978. She was a wonderful companion. She possessed true Dane temperament. She and her then husband Chuck began showing in 1989 with a dog named "Winston" and a bitch named "Promise". In February of 1990, they acquired a bitch puppy from Milton Pardue, Jr. She became Ch Calico Rock's Nevertheless, "NV". She was the very heart of Cathie's entire breeding program. On Christmas Eve, 1990, Milton delivered to their house Calico Rock's Suddenly, "Tai". Even though they did not finish her, she still allowed them to sleep with her at night in her king size bed. In December of 1991, they decided to add another puppy to their household. Milton wanted them to take the pick puppy from the "Y" litter, but Chuck wanted the fawn girl from the "X" litter. This was Ch Calico Rock's Xplicitly, "Holly". Choosing "Holly" proved to be monumental, as she has been their best producer to date. The decision to add Calico Rock French Silk, "Kandy", was made because they only had one litter from "NV". "Kandy's" dam was a full sister to "NV" and her sire was a Nephew of "NV". These four bitches are the foundation for Silkwood Great Danes.
